BERLIN — A rhino at a zoo in Austria attacked a married couple working as zookeepers Tuesday, killing the girl and critically injuring the person, authorities stated.
The deadly assault occurred on the Hellbrunn zoo within the western Austrian metropolis of Salzburg.
Zoo director, Sabine Grebner, instructed reporters in a while Tuesday that the 33-year-old lady, a German citizen from Bavaria, was assigned that day to place an insect deterrent on the rhino.
It was then that 30-year-old feminine rhino, Jeti, attacked the keeper although it was not clear why, Austria’s APA information company cited Grebner as saying.
Salzburg police stated that “the girl succumbed to her accidents on the scene of the accident.”
The opposite zoo keeper, a 34-year-old Austrian citizen, was additionally attacked and injured when he tried to chase the rhino away from his spouse.
