New Orleans Saints quarterback Jaymes Winston is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings in London and wide receiver Michael Thomas has been ruled out, head coach Dennis Allen told reporters Friday.
Winston (back/ankle) and Thomas (foot) have not practiced for the past three days due to injuries.
Andy Dalton will be the Saints quarterback if Winston, who is considered questionable, is inactive on Sunday. The Saints signed Dalton to a one-year deal this offseason after playing four quarterbacks in 2021 due to injuries and COVID-19.
“Our plan now is to get Andy ready to go,” Allen said. “We’ll see how things go overnight, but if that’s where we’re going, Andy’s going to be ready to go.”
Dalton has experience playing in London. He played in two games as a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals, including a 27-27 win against Washington in 2016 and current Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.
