Story Link It’s going to be a quiet week in Stephenville as all Tarleton sporting events hit the road this week.

The women’s golf tee this week in Lakewood, Washington, where they play the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Texas volleyball team will travel to Utah on Thursday against Utah Tech and Saturday against Southern Utah. Tarleton Football will be joining our volleyball team on Saturday as they return from bye week for conference play in southern Utah.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Texas football team went 3-1 in Cedar City, Utah, to meet the 3-2 Southern Utah Thunderbirds, who beat Utah Tech earlier in the season, Takes a 1-0 lead in the WAC game. The Texans’ offense looks to continue to be hot as Bo Allen and Jaden Smith finished in the top 10 in many categories on the FCS rankings. The defense also has the numbers to back them up, as Patrick Jones ranks in the top 5 in WAC tackle losses, sacks, forced turnovers and interceptions. The Texans will continue their conference game the following week when they have to play Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 15. They will return to their hometown on October 22 for a Pink Out contest against Southwestern Baptist Church.

Texas Women’s Golf finished seventh out of 13 teams at the RE/MAZ Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational last week, beating WAC rivals UTRGV, Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington. The Texans’ two freshmen, Elle Fox and Rebeca Fernandez, topped the team’s leaderboard and helped the team have one of its best performances of the past three seasons. Tarleton scored +64 overall, Fox tied for 17th and Fernandez tied for 23rd. On Monday and Tuesday, the Texans quickly turned around as they headed to the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in Lakewood, Washington. After that, they will take a break before heading to the Little Rock Ladies Golf Classic on October 17-18.

Texas volleyball heads to St. George, Utah, on Thursday at 7 p.m. to take on Utah Tech. They’ll stay up late in Utah and resume the conference against Southern Utah on Saturday at 2 p.m. Expect to get their first conference win as Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington beat them in their two home games last week. Tarleton Volleyball will be back at Wisdom Gym on Tuesday, October 11th at 6pm to play Texas A&M-Commerce. This will be a Pink Out game with free pink bracelets while supplies last.

TARLETON SOCCER got a week off after a tough road loss to New Mexico and a 1-2 loss to Sam Houston. The Texans are 4-5-3 this year and 0-3-2 in the divisional game. They will continue to compete in the next few games as they will be held at California Baptist Church on October 14th and at the Grand Canyon on October 16th.

TARLETON CROSS CUUNRTY shines at the Arkansas Chile Chili Festival. Both sides were ahead of multiple WAC teams and broke many individual records as the women’s team finished a season-high third and the men’s team finished 13th. Freshman Morgan Lamberson led the Texans, where she finished sixth in the 5K with a time of 18:37.3. Angel Contreras finished 42nd with an 8K time of 24:45.2. The Texans take a break before making their appearance at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 15.

TARLETON MEN’S GOLF had a top 10 finish last week at the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate, freshman Cristobal Sepulveda had a +1 in the final two rounds and a +6 overall to tie him on the individual leaderboard ninth. The Texans are seventh out of 12 competitive events with a +53. Tarleton will travel to Corvallis, Oregon for the Oregon State Invitational on October 10-11.

TARLETON SPORTS EXTRAVAGANZA will be held every Monday at 6pm at Twisted J Live until the end of the basketball season, excluding some holidays. The Todd Whitten Show, presented by Triple Crown Ford, and the Mary Schindler Show, presented by F&M Bank, will highlight this Tarleton sports event.
